Filmmakers’ convention wraps up in Dumaguete
CEBU CITY — The five-day 11th Cinema Rehiyon in Dumaguete City wrapped up Friday with more than 100 filmmakers across the country discussing latest trends and the growth of the Philippine cinema.
According to FU Public Information Officer Klein Emperado, Cinema Rehiyon is an annual gathering of filmmakers that aims to strengthen the regional filmmaking.
In its official Facebook page, Cinema Rehiyon reaffirmed its commitment to provide a platform for shaping Philippine Cinema and further highlight the importance of cultivating and pushing for the artistic value of regional cinema.
Among the activities were the screening of short films and feature or full-length films, film exhibits, and workshops and fora on Philippine cinema.
FU became this year’s host, being the home of Lutas Negros Oriental Film Festival, according to Emperado. Since 2013, Lutas has been the official film festival of Negros Oriental.
It has earned the support of the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA) and this year forged a partnership with the Film Development Council of the Philippines, Emperado said.

NCCA and co-presented by the Film Development Council of the Philippines, Dumaguete City Tourism Office and other partner institutions in the city.
