Incumbent Pasay officials ahead in survey
Incumbent officials in Pasay City dominated the Social Weather Station (SWS) survey conducted from January 25 to 28, 2019.
Congresswoman Emi Calixto-Rubiano led in the mayoralty survey with an 81 percent voter preference. Second in the survey was Chet Cuneta with 14 percent, and former Prosecutor Edward Togonon with 3 percent.
Leading the race for the lone congressional seat is incumbent City Mayor Antonino G. Calixto. Eighty-six percent of the respondents picked Mayor Calixto to represent them in the House of Representatives. Second in the survey is Efren Alas with 6 percent, followed by former City Prosecutor Elmer Mitra with 3 percent.
Vice Mayor Noel del Rosario also topped the survey for the same position. Del Rosario received 66 percent voter preference over former City Councilor Richard Advincula, who received 26 percent.
Some factors which affected the results of the survey is the unfamiliarity of the respondents with some of the candidates and the public perception that those running for Congress and mayor are not legitimate residents of the city.
Adding to the confidence of the respondents to the leadership of the incumbent officials are the economic programs of the city and the expanded social services of the local government to its constituents.
The survey had 600 validated voters as respondents with 300 in each of the districts of Pasay. It bears a 95 percent confidence level with a margin of error of (+/-) 4 percent for the entire city and (+/-) 6 percent for each of the two electoral districts.
The SWS conducted the “Survey on Voter Preferences and Voting Attitudes in Pasay City” utilizing the face-to-face interviews research method on 600 validated voters of Pasay using a structured questionnaire with visuals.
