Absentee voting application ends March 11 – Comelec
Those who want to avail of the Local Absentee Voting (LAV) in the May 13 midterm polls have seven days left to file their applications.
In Resolution No. 10443, the Commission on Elections (Comelec) said applications must be filed not later than March 11.
LAV may be availed of by government officials and employees, members of the Philippine National Police (PNP) and the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), and media
practitioners who are registered voters but will not be able to vote on Election Day due to the performance of their functions.
Government officials, employees, members of the AFP and PNP shall file before their heads of offices, supervisors, commanders, or officers next in rank.
Media voters may file their applications at the Office of the Regional Election Director (ORED) of the National Capital Region (NCR) in case of highly urbanized cities in the NCR, including Pateros; Office of the City Election Officer (OCEO) in case of highly urbanized or independent cities outside the NCR; and Offices of the Provincial Election Supervisor (OPES) for other areas.
The poll body earlier set the threeday Local Absentee Voting (LAV) period from April 29 to May 1.
The Comelec said government officials and personnel, members of the military and the police, and media practitioners may cast their vote any day during the period from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Government officials and employees, as well as the police and military, will be voting at designated voting centers identified by their superiors/ commanders.
For media men, they are set to vote at the Comelec offices where they also filed their applications to avail of the LAV.
Those who will be availing of the LAV will be voting only for the positions of senators and party-list group.
