- By MADELAINE B. MIRAFLOR

United States-based Oracle NetSuite, one of the world’s leading providers of cloud-based financials and omnichannel commerce software suites, is providing pro bono services to some non-profit organizations in the Philippines to help them digitalize their operations.

Debra Askanase, a Social Impact Program Manager with Oracle NetSuite, said there is still so much potential in the Philippines when it comes to digitalization, with a lot of non-government organizations (NGO) and social enterprises yet to realize the impact of technology in improving their overall operations.

To help address this problem, NetSuitestartedprovidingprobono services to some Filipino NGOs. It also held this week another round of Buildathon4Good, a global program that focuses on helping NGOs and social enterprises solve their business challenges by providing real time NetSuite customizations and deployed the same day.

For this week’s Buildathon4Good, participants include Gawad Kalinga Enchanted Farm, Coca-Cola Foundation, Theo and Philo Chocolate Factory, Zuellig Family Foundation and Organic Options.

Under the program, a selection of NetSuite employees collaborate with the nonprofits so the latter can use the NetSuite system more effectively.

“We’re looking for organizations with dedicated team,” Askanase said. “We help them automate their processes.”

The first ever Buildathon was launched here in the Philippines in November last year.

The program targets to help nonprofits and social enterprises improve their operational and financial efficiency, transparency for donors, regulatory reporting and capacity for informed, datadriven decision making.

By eliminating laborintensive manual work, nonprofits are freeing up resources to better focus on their social missions across the Philippines in such areas as healthcare, education, business development, disaster relief and alleviation of poverty.
