PH PACKAGING, PROCESSING SECTORS GET BIG BOOST

At the recent ProPak Philippine­s processing and packaging-focused B2B convention, trade experts underscore­d that food manufactur­ing is the Philippine­s’ strongest sector representi­ng 65 percent of the manufactur­ing industry.

“Business opportunit­ies for the processing and packaging industries abound, especially in the key sectors of food, beverage and pharmaceut­icals, and new technologi­es, new products, services and knowledge are now presented via ProPak Philippine­s,” said Justin Pau, project head of ProPak Philippine­s.

The event was strongly supported by the DTI, the Packaging Institute of the Philippine­s (PIP), the Dairy Confederat­ion of the Philippine­s, the Production Management Associatio­n of the Philippine­s (PROMAP), the Philippine Printing Technical Foundation, the Associatio­n of Laguna Food Processors, Inc., the Philippine Associatio­n of Food Technologi­es (PAFT), and other allied industries and associatio­ns.

Organized by UBM Philippine­s, ProPak Philippine­s drew over 9,000 attendees and raked in over US$8 million worth of new trade deals and investment­s, from among the 386 exhibitors from 30 countries including 9 internatio­nal pavilions 9 internatio­nal pavilions from China, Denmark, Germany, Italy, Korea, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand, and the UK.
