Billion for Eastern Samar projects
BORONGAN CITY, Eastern Samar – The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) District Engineering Office (DEO) in Eastern Samar will implement P1.6 billion worth of infrastructure projects for 2019.
Manolo A. Rojas, DEO head, said the allocation will be for the improvement of road shoulders and drainage systems, slope protection in landslide-prone areas particularly in Llorente and Giporlos, flood control, and building roads leading to tourism destinations.
Rojas said this year’s budget is lower than the 12.2 billion last year due to the cash-based budgeting system.
Last year the DEO got a 97.01 percent delivery rate in completing infrastructure projects.
The projects are: construction and repair of 55.79 kilometers of secondary national road; retrofitting of 849.5 meters of bridges, 20 flood control projects and 56 infrastructure projects like farm-to-market roads, water systems, multi-purpose buildings and tourism roads.
The DEO also built 2.698 km of farm-tomarket roads under Department of Agriculture, 37 school buildings under the Department of Education’s Basic Education Facilities Fund and 16 river landing projects under the Department of Transportation.
The Eastern Samar DEO is one of the top performing districts in the country last year.
