CARITAS MANILA CONTRIBUTES 1220 M TO DEVELOPMENT WORK

For the year 2018, Caritas Manila, the social services arm of the Archdiocese of Manila, funded its various development work efforts nationwide with over 1220 million from donations, bazaars, Segunda Mana charity outlets, Caritas Margins social enterprise stores, and other fund generating projects.

Of this amount, 199 million went to fund the education of 3,363 scholars under the Youth Servant Leadership and Education Program (YSLEP).

Segunda Mana is one of Carita Manila’s most visible and successful projects. In 2018 alone, it received 1128 million worth of donations in kind which are then sold to the public. This generated gross revenue of 162.5 million.

Caritas Margins Church Social Enterprise markets quality products of micro-entrepreneurs from all over the Philippines. In 2018, it raised gross revenue of 128 million with 113 million gross profit generated for 68 partner NGOs and 1,154 partner families

Caritas Damayan Disaster Management Program helped

17,933 families with emergency and disaster response to fire, flooding, typhoon and volcanic eruptions.

The Good Samaritan Program, in partnership with Radyo Veritas, has served over 6,000 people in crises with assistance for medicines, medical equipment like walkers and wheelchairs, laboratory, hospital bills, medical and dental services, burials, livelihood and transportation and others.

Caritas also runs a Preventive Health Program that helped 41,487 patients while 1,532 children were nourished back to health under the Caritas Hapag-Asa Feeding Program for malnourished children. The Caritas Restorative Justice Program with the support of the Philippine National Police focuses on inmates, parolees, detainees, victims of crimes and violence and youth offenders. Caritas also helps those involved in illegal drugs through its Sanlakbay Pastoral Accompaniment Program for Drug Dependents.
