Forever is not enough for her school and work load but Jodi Sta. Maria won’t stop trying to be the best mom ever.

Can a working woman be a perfect mother?

That was the question brought up to Jodi Sta. Maria in a recent interview. Well, she is the first to admit it’s never easy to have a full-time career as actress while taking on an active role as mother.

Not to mention that she also goes to school. Jodi is a Psychology student and a consistent Dean’s Lister.

She’s not complaining, of course. Motherhood, she said, is something she will never tire of even when she’s “not a perfect mother.”

Yes, like everyone else, Jodi has her shortcomings as a parent, like, she can’t spend enough time

with her son, Thirdy, because of her tight showbiz schedule.

Note that just this first quarter of the year, she had already starred in two films (“Second Coming” and “Man And Wife”); and there’s the ABS-CBN ongoing teleserye “Mea Culpa: Sino Ang May Sala?”

“There’s really a struggle in making all of it possible. I get tired, I get exhausted. But I always tell myself this is what I want. It’s not easy and I thank God for giving me the strength to do all of it,” she said.

Jodi is grateful Thirdy is growing up to be a good person, despite living in a “unique” family setup. As we all know, she has long separated from the father of her son, Panfilo “Pampi” Lacson Jr.

Despite that, they are amicable. In fact, she even posts on Instagram photos of Pampi and his new partner, Iwa Moto, hanging out together. She and Iwa have also developed a friendship because of their children. “Sometimes I ask myself, ‘Is my son okay with this setup?’ But I believe he should have a family that he deserves. I cannot just keep him to myself. He deserves to have a father by his side,” she said.

On Jodi’s previous posts, she cited four important lessons for Thirdy to live by: “1. Be accepting of who you are. You are unique and you are beautiful. Don’t allow the world to dictate who you should or shouldn’t be; 2. Beauty doesn’t come from outward adornment but from the inner self. A gentle and peaceful spirit is radiant and that shine can’t be dulled. That’s what you look for; that’s what you work for; 3. The best OOTD is when you’re clothed with dignity and strength. Clothes may make a man but character never goes out of style; and 4. It’s about finding balance and harmony with your heart, mind and soul – the trinity of our humanity. Have a compassionate heart, a positive mind and a humble soul.”

And since this article comes out on Mother’s Day, we asked Jodi for a wish.

Just like any loving mother, she prays and hopes that Thirdy would continue to be a good son and kind young man.

“I wish him to live a life that he can be proud of. I’m very grateful to the Lord that he is doing well. I hope he continues that. And no matter what, I’m always here for him,” she said.

Happy Mother’s Day, Jodi.
