Mayoralty bet, four others arrested for gun possession

CAMP COL. RAFAEL C. RODRIGUEZ, Butuan City – A mayoralty candidate and four other persons were arrested for alleged gun charges during the intensifie­d campaign against loose firearms and the election gun ban, a flash report received by the Regional Election Monitoring and Action Center (REMAC)-Police Regional Office 13 (PRO 13) on Sunday.

Cruz disclosed that the arrested suspect was Jupiter Abulog, a candidate for mayor of Rosario town in Agusan del Sur.

Abulog was arrested by authoritie­s who implemente­d a search warrant issued by Bayugan City Regional Trial Court Judge Lou A. Nueva last May 9.

The suspect was nabbed at his residence in Barangay Sta. Cruz, Rosario town after authoritie­s were able to find six caliber

.45 pistols; a caliber .40 pistol; an M16 Rifle; several bullets and magazines of caliber .45 pistol; magazines and ammunition of caliber .40; and ammunition of 5.56mm and a magazine of an M16 rifle in his possession.

Meanwhile, in Surigao del Sur, personnel of Tago Municipal Police Station (MPS), Surigao del Sur Mobile Force Company (SDSPMFC) and Army’s Bravo Company of 36th IB, arrested four other suspects in Barangay Libertad, Butuan City, through hot pursuit operation.

The arrested suspects were reportedly involved in attempted robbery and were also accused of threatenin­g the life of Barangay Chairman Hermilyn Silvoza Ugat of Barangay Anahao Daan, Tago town, Surigao del Sur.
