Araneta Center Cyberpark adopts green energy solution

-

The Araneta Center Cyberpark, a multibillion-peso PEZA-certified office development in the country’s pioneering commercial district, has become key to the Araneta Group’s investment in renewable energy solutions.

As more institutions and companies become increasingly aware of their impact to the environment, the Araneta Group, through its long-time partner Meralco, is working towards environmentally responsible developments.

During the contract signing between officials of the Araneta Group and Spectrum, Meralco’s wholly owned Solar and Renewable Energy Solutions subsidiary, it was revealed that a 151kW peak Solar Photovoltaic (PV) Power System will be installed on the roof deck of Cyberpark 1, the first tower in this fast redeveloping business district.

“The adoption of electricity generation through solar panels in Araneta Center’s Cyberpark is a major step in our effort to integrate environmental sustainability in our office developments,” said John Castelo, SVPBusiness Development for Araneta Center Inc.

It is the first of such investments that align the group’s corporate values to a wider approach on social responsibility.

The solar plant on the roof deck of Cyberpark 1 will utilize 384 Sunpower panels with a Power class of 395W per panel, the latest Performance Series model of Sunpower. It will also utilize two units of Huawei 60kW inverters, best in class with four Maximum Power Point Trackers and lowest maintenance cost with its Environmental Cooling System.

The system is also rated to withstand 250kph wind speeds to enhance

After the turnover of Pines Peak Tower 1, Cityland announced that Pines Peak Tower 2 is completed ahead of its scheduled turnover. Unit owners may enjoy the option to occupy their units earlier or have them leased out for return of their investment.

Pines Peak Tower 2 is a 27-story residential condominium along Pines St., survivability versus typhoons.

“Meralco and Spectrum salute the Araneta Group of Companies for their commitment to do what is right for our environment. The Solar Power Plant atop Cyberpark 1 will be the first project of its kind and a critical component of the group’s efforts to reduce carbon footprint from their building operations,” said Jose Rainier Reyes, Spectrum president.

The PEZA-Certified Cyberpark 1 is home to the biggest names in the BPO space like Sterling, Stellar, Genesys, Mandaluyong City. It is only a block away from the major thoroughfare of EDSA, near Shaw Boulevard, Pioneer and MRT Boni Station.

The project is neighbor to a cluster of popular shopping malls, luxury hotels, schools and business centers. Situated between Ortigas and Makati City Business Districts, it is the ideal affordable home where one can save on transportation expenses and time spent commuting within the busy streets of the metro.

Amenities such as swimming pool, gym, multi-purpose function room, children’s playground with movable playset, viewing deck, 24-hour association security will be provided for relaxation and comfort.

Holcim Philippines recently launched its highperformance blended cement brand Solido, which is designed as a better alternative for infrastructure to the commonly used ordinary Portland cement.

The new product is designed to provide concrete with higher strength and durability as well as better workability for faster and easier application.

Holcim Solido is also more environmentally friendly since it is produced with lower emissions.

Another Holcim product that is well-received by the market is the Superfast-Crete (SFCrete), a one-day concrete technology for quick road repairs in highly-urban areas. As of December 2018, SFCrete has been used to re-block several sections of the Epifanio de los Santos Avenue.

With SFCrete, roads are passable in 24 hours or less thus preventing commuter inconvenience from prolonged closure related to repairs.

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) approved the use of SFCrete for road projects in December 2016 under Department Order 235.

Holcim Philippines is also currently working to get DPWH accreditation for government projects to use its soil stabilization technology which improves the suitability of ground where roads will be built.

The better soil condition can help these projects avoid durability issues and project delays related to inclement weather, scarcity of quality aggregates and transportation of more suitable soil.

Holcim Philippines SVP for Sales William Sumalinog said: “As a member of the Lafarge Holcim Group, Holcim Philippines has access to a wide range of proven construction solutions to help builders all over the world. We believe that by providing our expertise to our local builders, we can help them build better, faster and more durable roads and structures.”
