Isolated showers to continue in Northern, Central Luzon

- By ALEXANDRIA DENNISE SAN JUAN

Overall fair weather will prevail across the country, while the southwest monsoon or habagat will continue to bring showers and thunderstorms to the western Luzon.

In its latest weather update Friday, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said effects of the habagat will still be felt particularly in the western sections of Northern and Central Luzon.

Ilocos Region, Cordillera Administrative Region, Batanes, and Babuyan Group of Island will experience cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers, and thunderstorms due to habagat.

PAGASA warned those living in areas affected by the southwest monsoon of possible flash floods or landslides during severe thunderstorms.

In Metro Manila and the rest of the country, localized thunderstorms will bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers.

Flash floods or landslides are also possible during severe thunderstorms.

The state weather bureau also issued a gale warning on seaboards of Luzon including Batanes, Babuyan, Calayan, Northern Coast of Cagayan, Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, La Union, eastern coast of Cagayan, Isabela, Zambales, and Bataan.

Rough to very rough seas are expected on coastal areas where a gale warning was raised with wave heights reaching 2.8 meters up to 4.5 meters.

Fishing boats and other small seacraft were warned not to venture out into the sea while larger sea vessels are warned against big waves.
