STARS ON THE RISE
The search is on for SM Little Stars 2019
Another batch of cute, talented, and adorable kids are set to dominate the stage as the search for this year’s SM Little Star is currently running. On Aug. 18, the grand finals will be held at SMX Convention Center, where 5,000 registrants ages four to seven from all over the country have been narrowed down to 30 competitors.
Now on its 12th year, SM Little Stars continues to celebrate the talent of Filipino kids as it provides winners the needed opportunities to hone their skills. Marcus Cabais and Sheena Kirtsten Bentoy, who were proclaimed the 2016 grand winners, both played major roles in The Lion King the Musical with Marcus as the young Simba and Sheena as the Young Nala. On the other hand, 2013 boy grand winner Nhikzy Calma was awarded WCOPA Junior Grand Champion Performer of the World in 2017. He has now become part of primetime variety shows, while 2014 girl grand winner Chun Sa Jung is winning fans with her acting prowess as a mainstay of a kiddie comedy show on TV.
Apart from that, prizes worth more than P9.5 million also await, including brand new cars, an international trip, and an artist management contract, as well as cash and gift certificates.
This year’s grand prize winner will get to take home the following prizes: a brand new Chevrolet Sail MT, an exclusive artist management contract with Regal Entertainment Inc., P50,000 worth of cash and SM Store gift certificates, P30,000 worth of Toy Kingdom Gift Cards, an all-expense paid trip to China for five days and four nights, as well as a four-year college scholarship grant from National University.
Comprising this year’s roster of judges are singer-actress Karylle
Tatlonghari-Yuson, movie director Joey Reyes, TV personality Tuesday Vargas, and SM Little Stars 2013 third prize winner Esang de
Torres, who will choose the winners based on their star quality, personality, and talent.
“Through SM Little Stars, we celebrate our commitment to making mallgoing experiences fun, nurturing, and rewarding for the whole family, and to spark moments that kids will treasure today and in the coming years,” said Jonjon San Agustin, SM Supermalls SVP for marketing.
