GIFT-GIVING STARTS EARLY WITH ROTARIAN ARCHANGELS
ANGEL THOUGHTS Lord, you give back to everyone according to his works.—Psalm 63
Today is the feast of
San Lorenzo Ruiz of Binondo, the first Filipino saint and the first from Manila. He is also known as the original “batangMaynila,” as he was born and he grew up in the Binondo area.
He came from poor but pious parents and was an altar server. He went to Japan with a group of priests to evangelize during an era of persecution against Christians and, unfortunately, the party of priests including the young Lorenzo were tortured and killed for steadfastly renouncing their faith.
So when you pass by the minor basilica in Binondo, remember our first saint, San Lorenzo Ruiz. More good news. There is now a newly-established Rotary club which gets its inspiration from archangels!
Archangels are extraordinary beings, extensions of God himself, personifying his grace and majesty and power. All the archangels are known to be healers, to be of service to communities, workplaces, and around the globe. So, Charter Club, known as Rotary Club of Manila Archangels 2019 sponsored by Manuel Roxas and Manila Premier, is made up of “outstanding individuals.”
The mantra of the Archangels is action and meaningful projects, and they shy away from socials, socials, and socials. So they partnered with the the Inner Wheel Club of Manila Dist. 3810 for a charity projects, the “Christmas in September” (Operation Paglingap). With the honorable Vice Mayor Honey Lacuna, they recently treated children from the Rafael Palma School for a gift-giving. They gave out “noche buena” bags for some 500 children from five to 10 years olds.
They were assisted by their adopted Barangay 763 zone 83 captain Sonny Jimeno and school principal Gil Alintara. The Rotarians and the Innerwheel ladies distributed Jollibee meals and gifts for the children. Great work, Rotarian archangels!
Gorge said they intend to do more sharing as they now realize there are lots more of the children they intend to help in their adopted
barangay. Truly, the season of sharing came early to the enlightened Rotarian archangels!
