A1264-million four-lane flyover at the Aguinaldo-Daang Hari Intesection in Imus City, Cavite, was opened to vehicular traffic Saturday by Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Secretary Mark A. Villar.

The Aguinaldo-Daang Hari Intersection Flyover in Imus City is a 564-lineal meter structure that is expected to significantly reduce traffic in that heavily congested area.

The flyover was built to ease traffic congestion at the Aguinaldo Highway-Daanghari Road intersection and nearby Anabu roads leading to the Cavite-Laguna Expressway.

According to Secretary Villar, it is the first flyover in the city.

Villar said the opening of the newly completed flyover will improve the living standards of the people near the area and will fast-track the delivery of goods and services towards sustaining the growth and development of Imus City and neighboring Dasmariñas City in the Province of Cavite.

This is a vital project as it will reduce travel time from Daang Hari Road – the main road to and from thickly populated Cavite and Metro Manila, going to Malagasang-Bucandala-Alapan Road by about 15 to 30 minutes.

It is also expected to eliminate delays at the Daang Hari Road and will reduced vehicle operating cost.

Villar said that the Aguinaldo-Daang Hari Intersection Flyover will also have impact on government’s program on air pollution control as the reduction of heavy traffic along the intersection will reduce carbon emissions due to idling of vehicles.

Construction started in March 2016 but was hampered by the right-of-way issues and an accident at the construction site in May 2018 which was caused by a boom crane operator who placed the girder or concrete beam on the flyover, causing it to collapse. The girders or concrete beams that were being lifted at that time fell off, hitting the other installed girders and causing a part of the flyover to collapse.

The incident was blamed on the contractor, causing them to shoulder the cost of the rebuilding of the collapsed portion of the project.

The project was implemented by DPWH Regional Office IV-A headed by Regional Director Samson Hebra together with the Cavite First District Engineering Office.
