Canon PhotoMarathon 2019: Everything That You Should Know
Photography enthusiasts, beginners and professionals alike, from different walks of life across the country are set to gather once again this year at the Philippine leg of the largest on-the-spot photography contest Asia -- the Canon PhotoMarathon 2019.
Carrying the theme “Sipat Pilipinas,” Canon PhotoMarathon 2019 embraces the Filipino word “sipat” which means “to look” or “to see”, challenging participants to look beyond the usual and capture the essence of the subject based on individual perspectives.
Calling the attention of all users of a Canon digital camera, whether it is a DSLR, mirrorless or a compact model, the latest edition of Canon PhotoMarathon is special this year as it includes a student category, encouraging young people aged 15 to 21 years old to fall in love with the art of photography.
Canon PhotoMarathon 2019 has an open category for emerging and professional photographers aged 22 and above. Because it is an on-thespot photography contest, the themes for both categories will be announced on the day of the competition itself, happening on October 19, 2019 at the SM Mall of Asia Music Hall in Pasay City.
Interested parties may pre-register online now at https://photomarathon.canon.com.ph (online registration closed on October 16) or register onsite on the day of the competition from 6:00am to 8:00am.
While the process of joining seems to be the easiest, the way of winning is the most challenging yet fun part of the competition. We got a chance to chat with the grand winner of the Philippine Canon PhotoMarathon 2018, Luke Singson.
Singson is also the 3rd overall winner of the Canon PhotoMarathon Asia Championship which was held in Japan, making him the highestranked Filipino .
“Understand the theme,” said Singson. “For me, it was the biggest factor that brought me the title. In my three years of joining Canon Photo Marathon.”
