ILOILO CITY – A power firm owned by billionaire Enrique Razon Jr. is asking a judge her in to inhibit himself from an expropriation case it has against a rival firm.

The Manila Bulletin obtained Friday a copy of a motion by MORE Electric and Power Corp. (MORE Power) urging Judge Daniel Amular of Regional Trial Court (RTC Branch 35) to inhibit himself from as ongoing case it has with Panay Electric Co. (PECO).

Atty. Hector Teodosio, MORE Power’s legal counsel, said that Amular has shown “bias” in favor of PECO.

\To recall, MORE Power has pursued a civil case to take the assets of PECO after receiving its government franchise to distribute electricity in this city.

Amular took over the expropriation case in August following the decision of Judge Yvette Go of RTC Branch 37 to inhibit after issuing a writ of possession favoring MORE Power to take PECO’s assets.

MORE Power claimed that Amular indulged in non-immediate matters such as calling experts from the Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) to explain technical matters in court when the issue was about the properties of PECO.

MORE Power also claimed that Amular wrongly accused MORE President Roel Castro of violating a gag order last month while not berating PECO when it continues to issue press statements.

“Judge Amular must inhibit himself from further presiding in the present case and immediately refrain from resolving all pending incidents,” MORE Power reiterated.
