Gift from Gab

If it pushes through, father wants daughter to get the film rights of his reunion movie with former wife.

After Sharon Cuneta and Gabby Concepcion sang a duet onstage last month “for the first time in forever,” as she put it, their awaited reunion movie could finally happen.

Like, really. “Naghahanap lang kami ng tamang timing, tamang script,” Gabby said in his most recent interview. “Para ’yang pastry, parang

cake — ’pag kulang pa ang ingredients ’wag na muna, kailangan magantay.”

If there were rumors that the movie is taking so long because of talent fee concerns, the actor crushes the claim categorically, saying that, in fact, both he and Sharon want all the film rights of the movie to go to their child, actress KC Concepcion.

Or were there apprehensions about doing intimate scenes together, we asked.

Gabby laughed. “No, pwede intimate scenes — hindi lang pwede kita underwear,” he joked.

Turning serious, the actor said that having been in the business for decades now, he has good “gut feel” whether a project would work or not. So far, he said, he hasn’t had that feeling over the materials submitted for their possible reunion movie.

“It has to be good,” he said. “It will be our gift to all who’ve waited all these years for us to do another movie together.”

‘It’s art’

Although he is not used to seeing KC in daring photos, Gabby remains a supportive dad even after seeing some samples.

“Nakakapanibago lang,” he simply said.

The photos of KC that made the rounds on social media have been getting mixed reactions, with some netizens calling her out for “showing too much skin.”

Gabby, 54, sees the sexy poses of his daughter as “art.”

“Well, ako, I love art, so maganda naman ’yung mga ganoon,” he said, adding if this is KC’s form of expression, then he definitely supports it. “Marami naman akong nakikitang mga ganoong style. Pero, of course, coming from your daugh

ter, nakakapanibago lang. But

I’m open to that.”

Gabby defended KC from her online bashers.

“There will always be critics, so okay lang ’yun. That’s how she feels, that’s how she wants to express herself in photo sessions, art forms.”

Sharon, in a separate press conference, also gave her two cents on the matter. According to the Megastar, her 34-year-old daughter is certainly aware of her actions.

“Matanda na siya, alam na niya ang ginagawa niya… Iba na ang mga bata ngayon eh. This generation is different,” she said.

Asked if he and KC had seen each other lately and if she mentioned anything about her love life, Gabby said “nagkausap kami and happy naman siya ngayon.”

Does he give her advice? “Mahirap ang nagbibigay ng

madaming advice,” he said. “Ako,

I just always ask her ‘Are you happy? Are you okay?’”

The interview with Gabby was in line with his endorsement for Beautéderm under the leadership of company president and CEO Rhea Anicoche-Tan.

She said Gabby is perfect choice as he hasn’t lost his gorgeous looks and astounding physique.

“I feel young and I feel great,” the actor was quoted to have said in a statement. “I am energized to face the world and work. I eat right and I work out regularly and of course Beautéderm is now an irreplaceable part of my daily regimen.” (With report from Regina Mae Parungao)
