The Sweetest Christmas

“Rustan’s is Christmas and Christmas is Rustan’s,” hosts Tim Yap and Joey Mead announced during the unveiling of Rustan’s Christmas windows under the theme “The Sweetest Christmas.”

Last Thursday (Oct. 24), holiday revelers, guests, and customers gathered at Rustan’s Makati to witness the venerable department store’s annual tradition of unveiling its holiday windows, signaling the start of the Yuletide season.

Leading the event was the Tantoco family headed by CEO and chairman

of SSI Group, Inc. Zenaida Tantoco with her father, Amb. Bienvenido Tantoco, who co-founded Rustan’s with his late wife and retail maven Gliceria Rustia Tantoco.

With kids leading the countdown, everyone raised their phone high to capture every moment of it. Much like a fantasy snow globe, the holiday windows showcased the best of the holiday must-haves, from neon-colored bears to penguins wearing bomber hats, gilded owls, and pastel butterflies floating in the air. Christmas trees of all colors and sizes were bedazzled with tiny lights and sparkling ribbons, all luring everyone into the store.

Spreading the gift of giving, the festivities continued inside with tables filled with glazed hams and free-flowing wine and champagne. Musical performances played classic holiday hits in the background that kept everyone in a gleeful spirit. Rounds of games, retail discounts, and a fashion show gave everyone a quick rundown of what to wear for the coming holidays.
