Rains to drench Bicol region, Eastern Visayas, Mindanao
A new low pressure area (LPA) east of the country has entered the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR) and may bring rains over the eastern sections of the country this weekend.
Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) weather specialist Aldczar Aurelio said the LPA was estimated at 940 kilometers (km) east-southeast of Hinatuan, Surigao del Sur on Saturday morning.
So far, the LPA is less likely to intensify into a tropical cyclone, Aurelio pointed out.
However, the weather disturbance will likely bring rains over Bicol Region, and eastern sections of Visayas and Mindanao.
Meanwhile, the northeast monsoon (amihan) will bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies and light rains over Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, La Union, Pangasinan, Apayao, Kalinga, Abra, Mt. Province, Ifugao, Benguet, Isabela, Batanes, Cagayan, Nueva Vizcaya, Quirino, and Aurora.
The rest of the country may experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers and thunderstorms.
By Monday, PAGASA said the LPA will start to traverse the Southern Luzon-Visayas area. Cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms will prevail over Bicol Region, Visayas and Mindanao.
Metro Manila and the rest of the country will be partly cloudy to cloudy with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms.
By Tuesday, the weather bureau said the LPA will continue to traverse Visayas, and will bring cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms over Metro Manila, Central Luzon, Bicol, Southern Luzon, and Visayas.
PAGASA said by Wednesday, it is expected that cloudy skies and scattered rain showers and thunderstorms will be felt in Southern Luzon and Western Visayas as the LPA traverses Palawan.
The LPA will enhance the amihan and may bring scattered rain showers and isolated thunderstorms over the eastern section of Northern and Central Luzon, and Bicol Region.
The rest of the country will be partly cloudy to cloudy with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms.
