Cop tagged as ‘mastermind’ in radio man’s slay, 2 nabbed
BACOLOD CITY — A retired policeman and a civilian were arrested while an active police officer was tagged as the alleged mastermind in the killing of a radio broadcaster in Dumaguete City, Negros Oriental Thursday.
Col. Julian Entoma, Negros Oriental police director, confirmed the arrest of retired PO2 Glenn Corsame and former police asset Teddy Reyes Salaw near their respective houses in Dumaguete on the day Dindo Generoso was killed while on his way to work at dyEM 96.7 Bai Radio.
Entoma said the suspects were the accomplices of PO2 Roger Rubio who is at large.
The suspects were reportedly identified through a closed circuit television (CCTV) camera footage installed near the crime scene.
Based on the CCTV footage, Rubio was riding a pick-up truck driven by Salaw, transferred to a motorcycle driven by Corsame and tailed Generoso’s vehicle, Entoma said.
Corsame then blocked the victim’s car and Rubio allegedly shot the broadcaster several times, and fled.
Generoso succumbed to nine gunshot wounds.
Entoma said police recovered a .45 caliber pistol with eight rounds of live ammunition from Salaw during his arrest but the pick-up truck which he borrowed from his brother-in-law was not recovered.
Entoma said they will also look for Salaw’s brother-inlaw to determine if he has participation or knowledge about the crime, adding that he can also be considered as “person of interest.”
Entoma said they are still investigating how the two arrested suspects established links with Rubio in the murder case.
