Mayor Isko Moreno confirms cameo role in an MMFF entry

- By STEPHANIE MARIE BERNARDINO

Manila Mayor Isko Moreno revealed recently he is part of Coco Martin’s Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF)-starrer “3Pol Trobol Huli Ka Balbon.”

In an interview, the 45-year-old public servant said he’s “grateful” to Coco and the staff for his participation although he cleared it’s only for a few scenes.

So, what’s his role, the mayor was asked.

“As myself! No, the same position that I’m in (city mayor),” he revealed during the recent Christmas Tree lighting at Manila Hotel.

Isko already shot his part and he admitted the experience was “na kaka-miss” as he was actor before entering politics. As he had done previously, he will donate his talent fee for the film.

“Sabi ko sa kanila ibigay nila sa PGH (Philippine General Hospital)

’yung yadba (bayad),” he said.

“Kaya nga ako natutuwa eh nu’ng artista ako hindi ako naging model. Ngayon kaliwa’tkanan, sa nanka at sa wakali meron!” Isko added in jest.

A few weeks ago, Isko donated at least ₱5 million worth of his talent fees to help earthquake survivors in Cotabato. The fee came from a pharmaceutical company (worth ₱3M) and cosmetic dermatology and surgery business (₱2M).

Before that, Isko gave his talent fee to PGH, particularly for children with cancer and patients of liver ailments. Those were the ₱1 million talent fee for a modeling contract with a clothing company; and ₱1.5 million for being brand ambassador of a coffee chain.

“Pero ako naman talaga, honestly I’m honored,” he noted. “I hope I will not offend anybody later on, that if you see my face in billboard, it has nothing to do with propagation. Basta importante maliwanag tayo. Sa madaling salita, trabaho lang ‘yun. Hindi ko naman binubuhat ang bangko sa inyo (pero) ni singko du’n wala akong pinapakialaman, at the very least.”

Also in the “3Pol Trobol Huli Ka Balbon” are Jennylyn Mercado, and Ai Ai delas Alas.

The complete list of Magic 8 entries are drama/animation “Mindanao” led by actors Allen Dizon and Judy Ann Santos; historical ”Culion” is headed by Iza Calzado, Meryll Soriano, and Jasmine Curtis-Smith; romance “Write About Love” has Rocco Nacino and Miles Ocampo in the lead.

Also participating are horror “Sunod” starring Carmina Villaroel; drama-comedy “Miracle In Cell #7” starring Aga Muhlach and Bela Padilla; comedy “Mission Unstapabol: The Don Identity” starring Vic Sotto and Maine Mendoza; and fantasy-comedy “The Mall, The Merrier” starring Vice Ganda and Anne Curtis.

The MMFF is an annual film festival held in Metro Manila which runs from Dec. 25 (Christmas) through New Year’s Day and into the first weekend of January the following year.

During the festival, only films approved by the jurors of the MMFF are shown in movie theaters.
