“Write About Love” may not be as big-budget movie as those starring Vic Sotto or Coco Martin or Vice Ganda in the Metro Manila Film Festival, producers guarantee their entry should not be missed in this year’s lineup

TBA Studios executives Chairman Fernando “Nando” Ortigas, CEO Eduardo “Ed” Rocha and President Vincent “Ting” Nebrida said an element that makes a movie good is well-written script – something “Write About Love” has.

“We are not after the competition. We are just happy that we’re part of it (MMFF). To be honest, we never expected we would make it,” Ortigas said. “Still, we hope for success and more than anything, we’re happy this movie will reach a widescreen audience.”

Starring Miles Ocampo, Rocco

Nacino, Joem Bascon, and Yeng Constantino, “Write About Love” is about a female writer who teams up with a seasoned male writer to create the perfect romantic movie. Their clashing personalities and different perspectives on relationships lead them towards a path of self-discovery, together realizing what it truly takes to write about love.

Writer and director Cris Aquino explained: “There’s the undeniable kilig factor of first-time love. The character played by Miles must prove to the older, dashing male writer that she can write a genuine love story even if she has never been in love before.”

TBA Studios is confident “Write About Love” is going to be a success because aside from it being the only romantic, feel-good entry at the 2019 MMFF, the film was made with the 100 Years of Philippines Cinema in mind.

Aquino said, “Write About Love is a film of many firsts. Aside from it being my first directorial assignment, it is also the first major starrer of (former ‘Goin’ Bulilit’ star) Miles Ocampo. I am truly grateful to TBA Studios for allowing me to write, produce and direct this beautiful film.”

The director also wrote the lyrics to the original song “Ikaw Ang Akin” interpreted by Constantino as part of the movie’s original music soundtrack. The track is set for release by Star Music.

This is the third time the production company joined the MMFF after “Bonifacio: Ang Unang Pangulo (2014)” and “Sunday Beauty Queen (2016).”

Romantic-comedy movies are markedly different from those TBA Studios had produced before. The company is known for historical epics such as “Heneral Luna” and “Goyo.”

“We always want to break barriers,” said Rocha. “Producing a romantic-comedy is not easy as people thinking. You have to show all the aspects of love, it’s parallel universe. With ‘Write About Love,’ I watched it about five time and I could proudly say the story is really great.”

“Write About Love” opens in cinemas on Dec. 25.

‘We are not after the competition. We are just happy that we’re part of MMFF.’
