Axel Torres bares career plans, gives advice to ‘PBB’ alumni
It’s been five years since Axel Torres emerged from the “Pinoy Big Brother (PBB)” house, but for him it is as if it happened only yesterday.
“It was really overwhelming,” he told Bulletin Entertainment during a basketball exhibition game and fund raising event spearheaded by Cavite
Mayor Angelo Emilio Aguinaldo for the benefit of Mindanao quake victims.
Asked to give advice about entering show business to the latest Batch 2 Adult Big Four of the popular reality show, the Team L.A.Y.F (composed of Lou Yanong, Andre Brouillette, Yamyam Gucong, and Fumiya Sankai), Axel cited patience.
You’re public image now. Eh tao lang naman tayo, we get hurt,” he said. “So ’yung mga pangba-bash, use that as a motivation. And if this is what you really want, you have to be patient.”
In an industry where platoons of detractors exist, the 26-year-old said passion and love for the craft serves as aegis from slings and arrows.
Ang daming perks,” he said.
The disadvantage is that even their personal lives are not exempted from the public eye.
“You have to maintain good image din talaga. But beyond that, I believe importante na aralin, mahalin at pahalagahan ang mga trabahong binibigay sa’tin. Bukod du’n, irespeto natin ang kapwa artista.”
Transferring soon?
Axel immediately got a big role after his exit from the house. He starred on the series “Hawak Kamay” alongside Sofia Andres.
“Wala akong masyadong acting (experience), naging stiff ako, hindi ako nakapagworkshop pero dahil mainit ako sa ‘PBB,’ binigyan talaga ako ng project which is thankful ako that time,” he said.
Axel’s contract with Star Magic had already expired. He admitted there’s possibility of him transferring to GMA Network.
Axel finds it hard to hurdle the waiting game.
’Yan ’yung na-realize ko,” he shared. “Seryoso naman ako sa career ko eh. So tignan na’tin kung anong mangyayari.”
Axel became a hot topic when his alleged video scandal made rounds online. He revealed to have sought the advice of Vice Ganda on how to handle the issue.
“”Sabi naman niya, ‘Good or bad publicity is still publicity,’” he said, noting he really got hurt over what happened.
The biggest lesson he learned from that controversy is to be more careful of his actions.
