There are so many misconceptions when it comes to wallpapers. Some say it is just a waste of money, others say it is better to just use paint on a wall as wallpapers are hard to change after a few years and tend to be outdated as time goes by.
Even with the apparent “disadvantages,” wallpapers continue to thrive and evolve with the times. Those with discerning taste still consider a wallpaper to be an “extension” of their personality, similar to their choice of a piece of furniture, a painting, or a curtain. Those who want to replicate a piece of hotel ambience also rely on wallpapers’ capacity to put a touch of elegance and enhance a wall in a specific room.
In the Philippines, there are a lot of companies offering wallpapers with different designs and colors. They also offer wallpapers with different textures and sheen.
One of the emerging wallpaper suppliers in the country is called Neu Muri Designs. A passion project started by friends Sonia Go and Anneli
Cedenio two years ago, Neu Muri is noted by its wallpaper selections that are Instagram-worthy, something that has helped them build an online audience. It also helps that both of them are hands-on in the business and are ready to give feedback to prospective customers online.
“Wallpapers and wallpaper murals are the best way to bring stunning imagery in a wall. Generally, wallpapers elevate the overall look and ambience of a room. It can also turn a drab wall into an accent wall. It definitely makes the space look more unique and personal! Plus, wallpapers are also easy to clean and maintain,” says Cedenio.
What makes Neu Muri stand out is that it is not a typical wallpaper outlet. Aside from initially doing their business online, they don’t have a fixed set of designs to choose from.
“We personally choose the wallpaper designs we offer to clients. We make sure that they look fresh, trendy, and unique. We source our wallpapers from different places all over the world to make sure that we have a wide range of designs in our collection,” she adds.
Cedenio also notes that they also work hand-in-hand with the client and the interior designer.
“At the start, we got referrals from family and friends. When we decided to turn our passion into a business, we realized that we should work closely with clients and designers. We don’t just offer a book with a specific set of wallpaper designs. We listen to clients, we discuss design with them, then we help create a well-curated home or a vibrant commercial space through the wonders of wallpapers.”
As the holiday season is already fast approaching, Cedenio feels that one can, in fact, give wallpapers as gift.
“Wallpapers are great addition to any space. We believe that a wallpaper (with the accompanying service) can be an ideal gift to family or friends. They will appreciate it as you create a cozier place for them to come home to after all the horrible traffic and hectic schedules,” she says.
As of the moment, good things are in store for Neu Muri. With their success in the online world, they hope to translate it in the real world with the opening of their showroom along Katipunan Avenue by the end of January next year.
“Along with wallpapers, we will be showcasing our furniture collection, as well. We have been working on this project for months now and cannot wait to share it with everyone.”
