Bringing The Elite Conferences Home For The People Of The North

-

TCON, a collaborative effort of a local tech community backed by a supportive pool of partners and sponsors, has a gift for the techies of the North. It’s an avenue for tech leaders to give back via a weekend filled with networking and digital adventures.

In 2014, when founder Mars Cacacho laid the plans for the first TCON, he met with his friends - tech community leads Reymart Canuel and Briand Rubin, pitched the same idea to his former teachers and students in St Paul University Philippines, and brainstormed with his tech barkadas James Vasquez, Mark Beloy and Carl Vega.

It was to have them talk at a small tech sharing seminar in a bar and resto grill owned by one of the founding members. There was no team yet, just TCON – the seminar.

Hackthenorth.ph was a coined name because of the unavailability of web domains then. Little did they know that the spur of the moment decision was a serendipity that brought about the birth of a now go-to community for all tech in this part of the country.

Almost a hundred hosted known Filipino tech speakers, more than a dozen Roadshows, several other tech events in between, and five years later, TCON5 hosts another set of familiar names in the realms of Cyber Security -- the Dev and Technopreneurship. The event will be held in Tuguegarao City’s Valley Hotel which is situated along the Region’s

Government Center, just a few meters from the Provincial Capitol and the City Hall.

The big names in the IT industry will make the Fire City of the North burning with knowledge influx in yet another chapter of TCON’s history. From November 29 – December 1, the premier digital Ybanag City will again be abuzz with tech as the event anticipates hundreds of students, professionals and enthusiasts to join the Tuguegarao Consortium 5.

Event partner The Manila Bulletin has TechNews and BusinessTech Editor Art Samaniego, Jr. as one of the keynote speakers while security researcher Christian Angel is among the plenary speakers.
