Standing ovation, ‘perfect 10’ for Marcelito on ‘AGT: The Champion’
There was no shortage of applause and loud cheers for Marcelito Pomoy the moment he showcased his singing prowess on the hit reality competition “America’s Got Talent: The Champion Edition.”
In an episode aired recently, the 35-year-old native of Surigao del Sur impressed with his rendition of “The Prayer.” He blew the audience and judges away with his ability to duet with himself.
“That was so unique, you are a beautiful, wonderful singer with a young woman trap inside of you,” judge Howie Mandel said.
Alesha Dixon lauded the performance because of its uniqueness. “I want to see something different, something unique and Marcelito you just gave it to us. It is absolutely brilliant.”
Heidi Klum, for her part, said: “Honestly, this is one of the craziest things I ever heard in my entire life. Your voice, your range and your sound is just so out of this world.”
What’s truly a feat for Marcelito was when Simon Cowell smiled ear to ear as he convinced fellow judge Howie to press the golden buzzer.
The English TV personality — who has a bit of reputation as a judge — gave Marcelito a perfect score.
“That was what I call a 10, a simple as that. I have a feeling that the super fans will put you through the next round,” Simon stated.
The Pinoy singer will need to gain the votes of the “super fans” to get through the next round.
Marcelito was the champion of the second season of “Pilipinas Got Talent” in 2011.
Prior to his performance, Marcelito went up on stage with wife Joan Paraiso, who turned emotional talking about her husband’s hard life.
In an interview video, Marcelito shared that he got orphaned and lived in the streets at the age of 7.
He also detailed how “Pilipinas Got Talent” served instrumental for his family to have a better life.
“(After I won the competition), my life change overnight,” he said. “From living in the streets, now I’m famous. The whole country is talking about me.”
“Now that I’m here at biggest stage in the whole world, I feel nervous. I want to show the world that I’m the winner.”
