Cloudy skies, scattered rains to prevail

Cloudy skies with scattered rains will prevail over most parts of the country Friday as the northeast monsoon or “amihan” continued to affect Luzon and parts of Visayas.

In its latest weather bulletin issued Friday, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said there was no weather disturbance being monitored to affect the country in the coming days.

PAGASA weather specialist Meno Mendoza said amihan was the prevailing system affecting most parts of Luzon and Visayas.

The amihan was expected to bring cloudy skies with scattered rains over Cagayan Valley, Cordillera Administrative Region, Bicol Region, Eastern Visayas, Aurora and Quezon, which might lead to possible flash flood or landslides due to scattered moderate to at times heavy rains.

In Batangas and Cavite, which are being affected by the current eruption activity of Taal Volcano, PAGASA said partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains are expected in ashcovered communities.

Isolated thunderstorms within the vicinity of the volcano are also likely while motorists could still experience reduced visibility due to ashfall.

Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains also due to the northeast monsoon.

The state weather bureau warned on possible intermittent strong winds especially in coastal and mountainous areas in the affected regions.

Meanwhile, localized thunderstorms will prevail over the rest of the country bringing partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers.

No gale warning was raised across seaboards in the country, but PAGASA advised fisherfolks that coastal waters in Northern Luzon, eastern sections of Central Luzon, Southern Luzon, and Visayas will be moderate to rough with wave height reaching up to 2.8 meters.
