GrabWheels activated for health workers
Ride-hailing firm Grab yesterday activated GrabWheels in select cities in the National Capital Region (NCR) cities to provide health care and medical workers, as well as other frontliners, with free, roundthe-clock access to electric scooters deployed all over Metro Manila.
In close collaboration with the local governments of the City of Manila, Quezon City, San Juan,Muntinlupa, Navotas, Marikina, and Pasig, Grab has deployed around fifty GrabWheels e-scooters to the select city governments.
The e-scooters will improve short-distance commutes for health care workers, frontliners, andbarangay officials in these cities.
At the moment, Grab has more than 300 e-scooters that are ready for deployment to other LGUs, to be determined based on the need for the healthcareworkers in these locations.
Implementing policies for borrowing and returning GrabWheels will depend on the directive ofthe corresponding LGUs.
To assure the safety of frontliners, all qualified users will be provided with waivers before using the e-scooter are encouraged to wear a helmet while riding, in case of an accident.
Before riding, users are also advised to do a quick check on the battery level before unlocking the app.
Tap on the scooter from the app to check its battery level. GrabWheels is one of several initiatives included in GrabBayanihan – a communitydriveninitiative to safely address the economic and medical pain points brought about by the recentCOVID-19 outbreak in the Philippines. (Emmie V. Abadilla)
