Torres, voice of auto parts makers, passes away
Mr. Feliciano L. Torres, who tirelessly worked to uplift the Philippine automotive parts makers, peacefully joined his Creator on May 9, 2020 in San Francisco, California, USA. He was 80 years old.
Torres is the president and general manager of YazakiTorres Group of Companies composed of Yazaki-Torres Manufacturing, Inc., YTM Component, Inc., YazakiTorres Parts Manufacturing, Inc., and YTP Lima Manufacturing, Inc.
His flagship firm YazakiTorres Manufacturing, Inc. is the country’s leading semiconductor manufacturer.
Aside from his automotive electronics manufacturing businesses, Torres expanded into other non-related ventures. Torres served as President/Chairman of LPUSt. Cabrini College of Allied Medicine, Inc., Torres Technology Center Corporation, YTMI Realty Corp., Torres Trade Company, Inc., HKT Philippines, Inc., St. Frances Cabrini Medical Center, Inc., Mt. Makiling Rural Bank, Inc., Lyceum of the Philippines-Laguna, and Consolidated Farm Management
Corp.
True to his passion for local automotive components manufacturers, Torres became chairman of the Federation of Automotive Industries of the Philippines, Inc. (FAIP) and the Motor Vehicle Parts Manufacturers Association of the Philippines now Philippine Parts Makers Association, Inc. where he served as chairman emeritus.
He also spearheaded the founding of the Philippine Automotive Competitiveness Council, Inc. Torres also served as trustee of Philippine Exporters Confederation, Inc., and the PhilippinesJapan Society, Inc., and former chairman of Philippine Japan Economic Cooperation Committee (PHILJEC).
He is survived by his wife, Dr. Nora A. Torres; children: Anthony and Irene, Alexter and Susan, Felcaster and Mench, Alvin and Trisha, Mary Adeleine, Jerrick Cian and Donnell Cian; sisters: Nila T. Rafar and Sonio T. Aquino; in-laws, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Details of memorial services shall be finalized by the family, in accordance with the wishes of Mr. Feliciano L. Torres.
