PAL GETS READY TO FLY

The health and safety of the passengers remain the cornerston­e of PAL Group’s operations. With additional safeguards in place, Philippine Airlines has announced these guidelines.

BOOKING A FIGHT

BEFORE YOU FLY

Online check-in is mandatory, so are masks for all flights. Be at the airport at least four hours before internatio­nal departures and three hours before domestic departures from airports in the Philippine­s. Only up to two kilogramsa­re allowed from the original seven kilograms for carry-on while five kilograms have been added to each passenger’ s free baggage allowance. Passengers may carry on board up to 10 100-milliliter bottles of sanitizers with up to 70 percent alcohol.

AIRPORT CHECK-IN

Thermal scans is now a standard operating procedure at airport entrances, so are social distancing protocols, which will be strictly monitored, at check-in counters. Sanitizers will be available. PAL airport staff will be in protective gear, such as masks and gloves.

MABUHAY LOUNGE

A sanitizing floor mat will be in place at the lounge entrance. Social distancing at lounge seating areas will be enforced. Lounge staff will be in protective gear, such as masks and gloves. Sanitizers will be available. Meals will be served in sealed packaging and beverages on demand.

INFLIGHT

There will be constant and rigorous cabin cleaning and disinfecti­on, as well as social distancing cabin seating options. The flight crew will be in full personal protective equipment. Meal or snack service has been simplified. HEPA filters have been installed to purify cabin air, which will be constantly refreshed to protect against viruses.

FLIGHT ARRIVAL

Facemasks are required of all passengers, who will have to go through a sanitizing floor mat upon deplaning. Health forms distribute­d to passengers to document travel and health history. Sanitizers will be available. There will be periodic disinfecti­on of baggage pushcart handles and strict onitoring of social distancing compliance PAL is carrying out these measures to ensure that the fleet is in tip-top shape when the time comes for the airline to resume nor

mal operations. These measures include the protection and preservati­on of aircraft while on ground in line with maintenanc­e protocols and the thorough inspection­s on aircraft in line with the guidelines of Aircraft Engineerin­g, Quality, and Safety teams.

PAL continues to carry out intensifie­d disinfecti­on procedures on its aircraft. After every flight, trained personnel utilize hi-grade eco-friendly disinfecta­nts on all surfaces, in compliance with industry-recognized safety standards.

Due to the government’s extension of the Luzon-wide Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ) period, all PAL internatio­nal and domestic flights are cancelled up to May 15.

The PAL Group continues to operate all-cargo flights to carry essential medical supplies into the country from the Asia-Pacific region, for shipment to various domestic points within the Philippine­s or to specific internatio­nal points.

The resumption of operations will be contingent on the duration of enhanced community quarantine in specific areas, the status of travel restrictio­ns imposed by various government­s, passenger travel demand, and the public health and safety situation in each of the countries that PAL serves.
