Andrew E connects with fans via online game show

You can never put a talented man down.

In the ‘90s, everyone danced to rap song “Humanap Ka ng Panget.” Whether you’re an “Alabang

Girl” in a posh subdivision or a “Banyo Queen” in the slums, you knew Andrew E.

Why, half my klmography has Andrew E movies:

“Row 4,” “Manchichiritchit,” “Burlesque Kwin daw oh!” – --the list goes on.

At this time, you’d think Andrew E would just be resting on his laurels and living quietly with his family. But then again, when talent is as overflowing as his, well, you never run out of shows. I see Andrew E either thrice or four times a week as main event performer for provincial, corporate, private birthdays, weddings, international and political events. His career rose higher after he landed a regular gig on “Your Face Sounds Familiar” together with comedians like Alex Gonzaga, Wacky Kiray and Bayani Agbayani.

But last February, the rapper-comedian had to be hospitalized due to a cholesterol blockade. Suddenly, the rapper was homebound.

“My doctor said I have to rest for six months from doing live shows. I was very troubled because I already signed contracts left and right for big events and kestas from March to June. I also have to knish my movie ‘The Pak Boys’ with Janno Gibbs, Dennis Padilla, Jerald Napoles and Leo Martinez…”

Well, aside from the doctor’s order, President Rodrigo Duterte announced the enhanced community quarantine, so that’s that.

“It was like God really wanted me to rest and recuperate my body,” Andrew said. “I did not have to stress on not attending my commitments anymore, the ECQ solved my problems. All I needed to do was to stay home and get well.”

Going through his Facebook account, it seems Andrew is getting there fast. Every night he’d do a Facebook Live game show dubbed “Saluhin Mo Tawag Ko” for fans during which he gives away prizes. He is also active with “OKS – Online Kapamilya Shows” on ABS-CBN’s Facebook and Instagram accounts.

“I guess eating healthy helped me bounce back faster. One hour with my fans on Facebook is not as tiring as doing one hour show onstage,” he said.

Andrew E is doing well and that’s good for him. If only the stock market and world economies were as resilient as this guy…
