Eagle Cement resumes partial operations
Eagle Cement Corporation (EAGLE) has partially resumed commercial operations “guided by a restart strategy that aims to help jumpstart the country’s economy, keep its communities safe and get small businesses around it back on track.”
EAGLE shut down operations last March 18, 2020 in compliance with government’s Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ) guidelines aimed at containing the spread of COVID-19 virus.
“We are starting to ramp up production as local demand for cement picks up following the easing of restriction in markets that we serve. We fully support government’s call to prioritize critical infrastructure projects to help reboot the economy,” EAGLE President CEO Paul Ang said.
With the resumption of operations, Ang added that “we hope to be able to safely return to a semblance of normality, mobilize our supply chains, create jobs and stimulate consumer spending."
EAGLE said it has implemented health and safety protocols in accordance with the guidelines and requirements of government agencies.
To ensure that its workplace and its personnel are safe, Eagle has taken extensive health and safety measures that include Reverse Transcription Polymerase Chain Reaction (RT-PCR) testing of its plant personnel, wearing of face shields and masks in addition to the standard protective gear provided to all employees and partners, disinfecting work areas, imposing strict social distancing on workers and customers, among others.
“By implementing these new social norms, we protect our people and those around us and help control the spread of the virus,” Ang said.
He added that the Company is looking to provide preventive measures and testing assistance to their host communities through the local government.
The Company has started conducting COVID-19 tests using RTPCR testing for its plant-based employees and business partners recently.
EAGLE will continue screening until 100 percent of its workforce are properly tested. Additionally, quarantine facilities are in place in the event that tests of its employees yield positive results for the presence of the virus.

We remain committed to conducting a regular RT-PCR testing and we will continue to ensure a safe workplace with strict safeguard measures in compliance with the government’s guidelines. By doing so, we achieve a good balance between ensuring the welfare of our employees and the sustainability of our business to support our local economy,” Ang added.
