Stock market posts slight gain

The stock market posted slight gains yesterday as optimism over US economic data was offset by some profittaking for the weekend. The Philippine Stock Exchange index (PSEi) inched up 8.58 points, or 0.14 percent, to close at 6,372.66 with the Financials and Industrial sectors in the red. A total of 2.66 billion shares worth ₱7.39 billion changed hands as losers beat gainers 103 to 92 with 45 unchanged. “Local shares rose following a betterthan-expected US jobs report as the economy continues to recover from the coronavirus pandemic,” said Regina Capital Development Corporation Managing Director Luis Limlingan.
