Duterte thanks private sector for donations to COVID-19 response
President Duterte is thankful for the assistance the private sector is extending to medical frontliners and public hospitals amid the fight against the COVID19 pandemic.
In a video message, presidential spokesman Harry Roque said President Duterte wanted to thank those who are lending a hand during the time of the global health crisis.
Roque said President Duterte is thankful to San Miguel Corporation President and CEO Ramon Ang for his multi-million-peso donations for health workers in Cebu.
According to the Palace official, Ang gave 5,000 health workers in Cebu life insurance worth ₱2 million each.
The businessman also donated a 105 High-Flow Nasal Cannula, an oxygen supply system capable of delivering up to 100 percent humidified and heated oxygen, and non-invasive ventilators for public hospitals, 10 of which are going to the Southern Philippine Medical Center in Davao City.
Ang likewise gave ₱500 million worth of personal protective equipment (PPEs) for hospitals and food and beverage for medical frontliners.
He also thanked the Aboitiz Group for the tents it donated to hospitals in Cebu and food for the frontliners.
Roque also extended President Duterte's gratitude to Presidential Adviser for Entrepreneurship and Go Negosyo founder Joey Concepcion for donating 10 dialysis machines for COVID-19 and non-COVID-19 patients with renal problems in Cebu.
"Sa ngalan ng ating Presidente Rodrigo Roa Duterte at ng sambayanang Pilipino, maraming-maraming salamat po (In behalf of President Duterte and the Filipino people, thank you very much)," he said.
