Duterte thanks private sector for donations to COVID-19 response

President Duterte is thankful for the assistance the private sector is extending to medical frontliner­s and public hospitals amid the fight against the COVID19 pandemic.

In a video message, presidenti­al spokesman Harry Roque said President Duterte wanted to thank those who are lending a hand during the time of the global health crisis.

Roque said President Duterte is thankful to San Miguel Corporatio­n President and CEO Ramon Ang for his multi-million-peso donations for health workers in Cebu.

According to the Palace official, Ang gave 5,000 health workers in Cebu life insurance worth ₱2 million each.

The businessma­n also donated a 105 High-Flow Nasal Cannula, an oxygen supply system capable of delivering up to 100 percent humidified and heated oxygen, and non-invasive ventilator­s for public hospitals, 10 of which are going to the Southern Philippine Medical Center in Davao City.

Ang likewise gave ₱500 million worth of personal protective equipment (PPEs) for hospitals and food and beverage for medical frontliner­s.

He also thanked the Aboitiz Group for the tents it donated to hospitals in Cebu and food for the frontliner­s.

Roque also extended President Duterte's gratitude to Presidenti­al Adviser for Entreprene­urship and Go Negosyo founder Joey Concepcion for donating 10 dialysis machines for COVID-19 and non-COVID-19 patients with renal problems in Cebu.

"Sa ngalan ng ating Presidente Rodrigo Roa Duterte at ng sambayanan­g Pilipino, maraming-maraming salamat po (In behalf of President Duterte and the Filipino people, thank you very much)," he said.

To date, the Philippine­s has reported 47,873 confirmed COVID-19 cases, 1,309 deaths, and 12,386 recoveries.
