Garcia places most of Cebu province under MGCQ

- By CALVIN CORDOVA

CEBU CITY — Governor Gwendolyn Garcia has issued an Executive Order (EO) placing Cebu province under Modified General Community Quarantine (MGCQ) effective Friday, July 10.

Under EO No. 20, MGCQ protocols will be applied in the province, except for Talisay City, Minglanilla town and Consolacion town, which will remain under General Community Quarantine (GCQ).

Under MGCQ, almost all commercial establishments will already be allowed to operate subject to compliance with the 50 percent operational capacity.

The 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. curfew will still be in effect.

“Work in government offices may return to full operational capacity at the discretion of the local chief executives or head agency,” Garcia said.

Garcia urged Cebuanos to continue observing standard health protocols, such as physical distancing and the wearing of facemasks.

Establishments were also encouraged to conduct regular disinfection, and come up with additional precautionary measures, such as installing of air purification or sterilization systems, and ultraviolet light disinfection lamps or bulbs.

Fiesta celebrations remained prohibited, as well as the holding of cockfights.

Public transportation was already allowed, but the guidelines issued by the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board must be followed, Garcia said.

Individuals who are immunecompromised are still not allowed to go out of their houses.

Masses are already allowed, subject to the 50 percent capacity, while mass gatherings will be allowed only with the approval of local chef executives, and strict compliance of health protocols.
