CLARK — San Miguel’s title defense in the PBA Philippine Cup suffered another blow as guard Terrence Romeo was ruled out of the bubble season due to a shoulder injury.

“He’s out for six to eight weeks. ‘Yun ang sabi ng doctor at PT (physical therapist) namin. So , it’s more orlessone and a half months” Austria confirmed in a phone call with the Bulletin.

“For me, out na siya this conference,” he added.

According to initial diagnosis, Romeo sustained a dislocated right shoulder after colliding with TNT guard Ryan Reyes with 4:57 left in the second quarter of the Beermen’s 88-107 loss — their second straight defeat in the bubble — Friday night.

The 5-foot-10 guard was actually one of the bright spots as he tallied 11 points, a rebound and an assist, keeping San Miguel within striking distance, 35-43 prior to the injury.

Austria said the Beermen’s bid for a record sixth Philippine Cup championship would only get tougher from here on.

“I think ‘yung chances nandoon pa rin but it’s going to be tough for us.”

San Miguel (1-2) will battle the winless Terrafirma (0-2) on Monday.

The Beermen have yet to since opening the 45th season last March 8 with a 94-78 rout of the Magnolia Hotshots Pambansang Manok at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

SMB lost 87-83 to Rain or Shine Tuesday afternoon after trailing 16-0 at the start.
