Jodi, Joshua talk about intimate scenes in latest series

- By ROBERT R. REQUINTINA

Award-winning actors Jodi Sta. Maria and Joshua Garcia recently disclosed that they were both tasked to do intimate scenes for the highly anticipated series "Unbreak My Heart." This marks the first-ever collaboration between GMA Network and ABSCBN Corporation, featuring an all-star cast led by the two actors.

The official trailer of the series caused quite a stir among Jodi and Joshua's followers when the couple locked lips on screen. It was a moment that took many by surprise and had everyone talking.

In a recent interview at the Seda Hotel in Quezon City, Jodi and Joshua shared that they flawlessly accomplished their task, thanks in part to the production team who provided them with sensuality workshops to aid them.

"For me, as actors, we have agreed on what's required from us. So kung ano ang requirement as actors, we will deliver. If I feel uncomfortable with something, then we should do something about it," said Jodi, 40, when asked about the intimate scenes in the latest series. "I'm just thankful for the production team for providing us with sensuality workshops because it really helped me get through a difficult scene like that."

Joshua, 25, said: "Katulad ng sinabi ni Ate Jodie, yun kasi ang nire-require sa story so as actors, you have to deliver talaga. Gusto ko rin na challenged ako sa ginagawa ko. So it's another challenge for me na nagagawa namin yun kasama ang mga director."

(Like Ate Jodie said, that's what is required in the story so as actors, you really have to deliver. I also like to be challenged in what I do. So it's another challenge for me with the directors.)

Jodi added: "Sabi ko nga, paiyakin na lang ninyo ako ng buong araw pero pag ganitong scenes kinakabahan pa rin ako masanay sanay but then yung mga ganung klaseng difficult and challenging scenes would require you a lot of trust not only from your co-actors but from your co-director. That you also have to trust in their vision na alam mo na they will take care of you, hindi ka nila pababayaan sa scenes. And they will make sure that it will artistically done. Ang ganda naman ng kinalabasan ng eksena."

(I said, just let me cry all day long but with scenes like this, I'm still nervous. I'm still not used to those kinds of difficult and challenging scenes which would require you a lot of trust not only from your co-actors but from your co-director. You also have to trust in their vision and you know that they will take care of you, they will not leave you behind in the scenes. And they will make sure that it will be artistically done. The outcome of the scene is beautiful.)

Jodi, Joshua, Richard Yap, and Gabbi Garcia push the bounds of forbidden love that may break the hearts of those they hold dear in “Unbreak My Heart."
