Chery Tiggo handed powerhouse Creamline its first loss in five years with a stunning 25-18, 26-24, 25-23 victory on Saturday, March 16, in the 2024 Premier Volleyball League (PVL) All-filipino Conference at the Sta. Rosa Sports Complex in Laguna.

Three players sizzled with double figures for the Crossovers with Eya Laure unloading 14 points and Cza Carandang and Ara Galang chipping in 12 and 10 points, respectively.

The victory not only gave Chery Tiggo its third win in five outings but also ended Creamline’s 19-game winning streak dating back to 2019.

It was also the Crossovers’ first taste of victory against the heavy favorites since their 2021 Ilocos bubble championship showdown.

While the troika of Laure, Carandang and Galang led the Crossovers’ balanced attack, it was Jen Nierva who came up with a huge defensive game after delivering 20 digs and 10 receptions.

“Sobrang amazed kami sa Creamline last conference, we watched the entire game. Napapatanong ako ‘Paano kaya namin matatalo yung Creamline?’ Kasi system-wise ang solid, attackers, defense and passing.

Even kapag when we’re scouting them, hindi ko makita paano namin sila bubutasan,”nierva said.

“I’m just so happy na dumating kami sa point na nagkaroon kami ng gel inside the court,” she added.

Reigning Second Best Outside Spiker Jema Galanza and Finals MVP Tots Carlos took turns for the Cool Smashers in the losing effort with 13 and 12 markers, respectively, which was a far cry from their usual offensive production.

Chery Tiggo also outplayed Creamline in all departments particularly in attacks, 41-37, and in blocks, 9-5.
