Lacuna-pangan halts motor clamping operation due to improper implementation
Manila Mayor Honey Lacunapangan issued an order to halt the motor clamping operation in Manila due to complaints about its improper implementation.
“Aking pinatigil ang pagpapatupad ng nasabing ordinansa sa kadahilanan may ilang reklamo tayong natatanggap ukol sa hindi maayos na pagpapatupad nito (I stopped the implementation of the said ordinance because we have received several complaints about its improper implementation),” the mayor announced on Wednesday, April 17.
Manila City Ordinance No. 8998 mandates motorcycle clamping in accordance with the agreement of the mayors in different cities of Metro Manila and the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) to ensure smooth traffic on the national roads.
The mayor said she assigned Manila Traffic and Parking Bureau (MTPB) Chief Director Dennis Viaje to investigate the said complaints.
Meanwhile, the mayor said the formal announcements about new policies in Manila can only be found on the Manila Public Information Office Facebook page or her official Facebook page Dra. Honey Lacuna.
She said the information that is only forwarded through Messenger such as screenshots or audio record that does not appear on the two Facebook pages are not from their office.
“Hinihikayat ko ang lahat na tulungan ako at ang ating pamahalaang lungsod sa pagpapaganda at pag sasaayos ng ating mahal na Maynila. Samahan ninyo akong siguraduhin na patuloy madama ang kalinga, ginhawa, at saya ng bawat Manileño (I encourage everyone to help me and our city government in beautifying our beloved Manila. Join me in making sure that every Manileño continues to feel the protection, comfort, and joy), she said.
