Beauty and wellness brand launches awareness drive for timely vaccination

- By Angelica Villanueva

ONE of the good things that the pandemic has taught us is to prioritize our health among others. We became more attentive to what we physically feel – in simple terms, we became health conscious.

Before the pandemic happened, we are being warned by our local health agency to get our vaccination done yet we tend to disregard its importance. Now that COVID-19 had taken millions . of lives around the world, it highlighted the significance of inoculation and being updated with our vaccination record to remain healthy.

“We invite everyone to get vaccinated to protect themselves, their loved ones, and their community. It is the safest and most effective way to stop infectious diseases,” advised Dr. Lulu Bravo, Executive Director of the Philippine Foundation for Vaccination.

Recently, as part of the celebration of World Immunization Week, Watsons Philippines rolled out its Vaxxed Office Hit campaign to raise awareness of the importance of getting vaccinated to prevent the ill effects of flu, HPV, and pneumonia.

By creating imitations of movie posters and trailers, Watsons used compelling and eye-catching illustrations to grab the attention of the public regarding illnesses and the effects of infectious diseases.

“To make our message on the urgent need to get vaccinated memorable, we purposely created the trailers to go live in cinemas,” said Sonny Cuenco, Watsons’ Health Trading Director.

“It’s made to make our message on the urgent need to get vaccinated stand out. The trailers will also be promoted online and via out-of-home mock movie ads – just like a box office-breaking film.”

The mock movie posters will be situated just outside cinema theaters, underpasses, and on billboards all over Metro Manila.

Ever since, the health and beauty retailer aims to promote and provide access to holistic health and wellness solutions, expert care and advice, and a platform for health literacy.

“There are many diseases to watch out for, but advances in medicine have allowed us to protect ourselves through vaccination,” shared Jared de Guzman, Watsons’ Customer Director.

This year, the dominant flu strain circulating the globe is Influenza A (H3N2) and it has been associated with more severe flu seasons. Meanwhile, subtype H3N2 is known to cause more severe illnesses in young children and older adults.

To continue its mission, Watsons is offering vaccination services for Influenza A (H3N2), pneumonia, and HPV in its network of more than 1,000 stores in the Philippines.

“Watsons is making it easier to protect ourselves by making immunization more accessible and affordable,” added de Guzman.
