PBBM, VP, Speaker laud mothers
IN CELEBRATION of Mother’s Day, President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., Vice President Sara Duterte-Carpio, and Speaker Martin Romualdez on Sunday paid tribute to mothers’ sacrifices and unconditional love, and how they teach children to make the world a better place.
“I wish each and every mum a day full of the love, happiness, and appreciation they deserve. Happy Mother’s Day!” Mr. Marcos wrote on Instagram
The President posted a photo of his wife, First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos, his mother Imelda Marcos, and sisters Sen. Imee Marcos, Irene, and Aimee.
In her message, VP Duterte cited the selflessness of mothers and how their love inspires children to dream and pursue their dreams.
“Everything that mothers do reminds us what it is to be selfless. They ask for so little and yet they give so much,” she said.
“Their sacrifices and unconditional love have molded us to become the persons that we are today and what we will become in the future — inspiring us to dream and encouraging us to pursue these dreams,” she added.
The Vice President also underscored the efforts of those who have taken the roles of being mothers of children outside of their own homes or in communities, adding that the mothers’ work helps sustain the values of Filipino society.
“May this day serve as an affirmation of the great work that our mothers unfailingly commit to teaching our children to be good, be present when others need them, and, in doing so, sustain the values that make up the fiber of our Filipino society — faith, optimism, resilience, resourcefulness, and generosity of spirit,” Duterte- Carpio said.
Speaker Romualdez, meanwhile, wished all mothers the very best day ever on Mother’s Day.
“I join the whole world in celebrating the life of that very, very special person who has sacrificed a lot to see us all succeed, put our needs first before their own, and seek our highest good no matter the costs for them,” he said.
