PNOC, Indian firm to roll out hybrid tech for o -grid areas

STATE-RUN Philippine National Oil Co. (PNOC) said Monday it plans to deploy Solar Mill technology across small island communitie­s under its memorandum of understand­ing (MOU) with WindStream Energy Technologi­es India Pvt. Ltd.

SolarMill technology is a revolution­ary, unique hybrid, wind and solar renewable energy system. It is a modular and scalable clean energy solution that integrates solar panels and vertical-axis wind turbines with magnet generators developed by Windstream Energy Technologi­es India

The MOU, signed on April 19, 2024 at the PNOC Corporate Office, establishe­s a strategic partnershi­p between PNOC and Windstream. It aligns with PNOC’s Arrow 3 strategy transition­ing towards a social enterprise model and supporting the electrific­ation goals of the national government.

The collaborat­ion between PNOC and Windstream aims to support the National Power Corp.’s (NPC) hybridizat­ion program for the Small Power Utilities Group (SPUG) areas.

Windstream managing director Venkat Kumar Tangirala said leveraging SolarMill technology would help address energy challenges in the Philippine­s.

Windstream, a well-establishe­d Indian company founded in 2013, boasts a global presence with clients in 38 countries.
