- KRISTYN NIKA M. LAZO

CENTURY Properties Group Inc. (CPG) is set to present the master plans for two large scale integrated resorts, and start the respective constructions early this year as a part of the company’s Century 2020 plan.

“We are master planning two parcels of land . . . Early next year, we should be launching this,” Jose EB Antonio, CPG president and chief executive officer, told reporters at the sidelines of the 4th Asia Pacific Real Estate Investment Summit Philippines on Thursday.

Antonio was referring the development of a 56- hectare resort in San Vicente, Palawan and the construction of a 142- hectare resort project in Batulao, Batangas.

The group is talking to various international hotel brands for the two projects.

“There are various brands that are really interested in coming to the Philippines. They look at the Philippines as really a bright spot, and they would like to have a share and presence in the Philippines. They are world renowned hotels.

“The Philippines is really a place they would like to expand presence. You name it, and they want to come here,” Antonio said.

For the San Vicente and Batulao resorts, the company will build three to five star hotels mainly catering to the domestic market.

“Tourism is one of the low lying fruits in the economy today. However, in order to attract tourists in this country—whether for leisure or medical – I think we have to improve our access,” Antonio said.

“We are looking at serving domestic tourism in this country. Domestic tourism in this country, based on the latest study, [ is about] 40 million tourists. All of us are tourists. We go to Palawan, Boracay, Cebu,” he said.

“We are dedicated to serve first the domestic market then hopefully, with the increased arrivals of foreign tourists, we’d be able to serve them too,” he added.
