BETTOR FROM CEBU BAGS P272-M GRAND LOTTO PRIZE

A LONE bettor from Cebu City won the elusive Philippine Charity Sweepstake­s Office (PCSO) Grand Lotto 6/55 jackpot that reached P272 million on Saturday night. According to PCSO General Manager lawyer Jose Ferdinand Rojas 2nd, the ticket with the winning combinatio­n of 13-35-24-09-06-53 was bought from a lotto outlet at the Ayala Mall in Cebu City. The lucky bettor placed a total bet of P100 for a lucky pick (computer generated) combinatio­n that provided wining set of numbers. Besides the jackpot winner, 23 others won the second prize of P110,510 after guessing five of the six winning numbers right, while a total of 1,784 lotto players will get P1,130 each for getting four numbers right.

MILD QUAKE HITS LANAO DEL SUR

COTABATO CITY: A magnitude 3.2 quake hit Lanao del Sur on Saturday but no casualty or damages to property was reported, the Philippine Institute of Volcanolog­y and Seismology ( Phivolcs) said on Sunday. In its bulletin issued at 9: 11 a. m. Sunday, Phivolcs said the tremor that came at 4: 57 p. m. was tectonic in origin and traced east of Butig town in Lanao del Sur where an active volcano is located. Phivolcs said the quake has a depth of four kilometers Saripada Lucman Pacasum Jr, Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction Management officer, said disaster workers have been monitoring the situation. Butig town has an active volcano, Mount Makaturing, but disaster officials and Phivolcs could not say if yesterday’s tremor was volcano- related. At 4: 22 a. m., Sunday, a slightly stronger quake, Magnitude 3.5, hit Surigao del Sur but no damages to property has been reported.

INDIAN BUSINESSMA­N, HELPER HURT IN SLAY TRY

SAN FERNANDO CITY, La Union: A computer repair shop owner and his helper were hurt when a lone gunman shot them at close range in front of his establishm­ent in Purok I, Sevilla Center on Friday night. Police Senior Inspector Maila Alog identified the victims as Lal Mirchandan­i, 46, an Indian who owns the SMK Computer Sales and Services, and residing in Catbangen village. He sustained four gunshot wounds in the chest and arms, and is recuperati­ng at the Ilocos Training Regional Medical Center. Mirchandan­i’s helper, Roger Calderon, 46, residing in Banbanay Village, San Juan, La Union, suffered a gunshot wound in his lower abdomen and was treated at the same hospital. Investigat­ion revealed they were about to close the shop at 7:30 p.m. when the gunman, masked with a piece of cloth, approached them and began shooting. The employees of the shop chased the gunman but sped away onboard a Toyota Fortuner.
