DOST launches Starbooks, holds science writeshop
THE Department of Science and Technology (DOST) is launching library in a box that stands for Science and Technology Academic - ated Kiosk Station.
Developed by the DOST’s Science and Technology Information Institute (STII), the Starbooks is a user-friendly information portal that can be accessed without Internet connection. It contains local and foreign S&T resources in text, video, and audio formats including journals, investigative materials, and livelihood videos, covering a diverse range of topics. The portal is now being deployed nationwide in schools, municipal other entities for free. The partnerproponents will only shoulder the computers and kiosks and STII will provide the content and training of librarians.
Meanwhile, STII held the Science Journalism Writeshop at the DOST Complex in Taguig City as part of the National Science and Technology Week celebration.
The seminar aimed to train and impart knowledge to future science journalists, enhancing their appreciation of science communication and journalism, and the importance of science to social and economic development.
