Baguio, Pampanga bets lead PSL Novice winners

PROMISING tankers Riff Zachary Pantaleon of Baguio Penguins Swim Club and Ryan Anjelo Pamintuan of Pampanga Aqua Racers bannered the list of the Most Outstandin­g Swimmer (MOS) awardees in Novice Division of the 99th Philippine Swimming League (PSL) National Series Novice and Motivation­al Swimming Championsh­ip held at the Diliman Preparator­y School swimming pool in Quezon City.

Pantaleon garnered 34 points to claim the top honors in the boys’ 12- year category while Pamintuan shared the spotlight as he earned 37 points in bagging the MOS plum in the boys’ 13year of the tournament supported by The Manila Times.

Riannah Fernando of Southeaste­rn College ( girls’ 7- year), Jed Sabine Aquino of Sta. Maria Aqua Racing Torpedoe (boys’ 6-under) and Trei Agoto of Camp Aguinaldo Streamline (boys’ 9-year) also secured their respective MOS awards.

“This is really a grassroots developmen­t program. They are starting as novice and if they stay in the program, you can see what they will become a year after. We are starting this novice program to continue our search for new talents and potential swimmers. We monitor them, from novice to become regular competitiv­e swimmers,” said PSL President Susan Papa.

The other MOS winners in the girls’ class are Alexandra Marie Pedracio of Grand Villa Hotel Pateros (6-under), Reign Margaret Magnaye of Assa Villa Mejia (8), Lorraine Charelaine Lagrisola of Will Wahoo (9), Leah Mari Buenaventu­ra of Aquaspeed Sailfish (10), Sophia Faith Isla of Manaloto Golden Sharks (11), Louise Esguerra of Silang Baywolves (12), Zam Marasigan of Susan Papa Swim Academy (13), Maria Faith Medina of Manaloto Golden Sharks and Trisha Kaye Dela Rosa of College of Immaculate Concepcion (14), and Mikhaela Coleen Martinez of Manaloto Golden Sharks (15-over).

Winning MOS awards in the boys’ division are Andrei Masipag of Will Wahoo (7), Noel Jazen Nunez of Casa Aqua Stallions (8), Reign Iver Matawaran of Team Asa (10), Angelo Olaguer of Kalipayan Sailfish (11), Mark Gian San Diego of Wild Wahoo (14) and Kyle Adrian Roldan of Kalipayan Sailfish (15-over).

PSL is a national sports swimming associatio­n for universiti­es and colleges accredited by the Federation of School Sports As- sociation of the Philippine­s - the internatio­nally affiliated member of Federation of Internatio­nal Sports University.
