REGION I REPORTS OVER 32,000 DRUG SURRENDERERS

CAMP GEN. FLORENDO, La Union: The Police Regional Office reported that 32,021 drug suspects have surrendered in line with “Oplan Tokhang” since July 1 to August 31. Police Regional Information Officer Vanessa Gabot said 787 were arrested for various drug-related activities, 647 were drug pushers while 140 were drug users. Of the total number, 437 were from Pangasinan; 190 from La Union; 100 from Ilocos Norte; and 80 were from Ilocos Sur. Since “Oplan Tokhang” and “Double Barrel Project” were implemented, 31, 827 drug suspects have been visited and convinced to surrender. The operations have left 28 dead.
