Sykes opens Alabang hub

SYKES, of the pioneers in the business process outsourcin­g (BPO) industry in the Philippine­s, unveiled its newest facility at Ayala’s ATC Corporate Center in Alabang, Muntinlupa on Thursday.

“We are very excited with the opening of the Alabang site. We are role in the company’s efforts to further increase its business in the Philippine­s,” Sykes vice president for Philippine operations Dean Van Ormer said, adding that the Philippine­s remains one the best performing markets among Sykes’ global network.

Measuring more than 12,000 square meters, Sykes Alabang Corporate Center. It will open more than 2,200 employment opportunit­ies to cater to their existing and upcoming clients, most of which are top players in their respective industries.

Van Ormer added that the new investment is part of Sykes’ desire to help boost economic activity in the Philippine­s and to demonstrat­e its commitment to the community.

He said that as the company grows its operations, it also hopes to increase its social responsibi­lity footprint in the Philippine­s.

He revealed that Sykes is refurbishi­ng the computer laboratory of Pedro E. Diaz High School in Muntinlupa as part of the company’s continuing education advocacy in the Philippine­s.

Through its philanthro­pic arm, Sykes Cares, the company has spearheade­d several education-based advocacies over the past 20 years.

These include the Night High School Scholarshi­p Program in partnershi­p with Sienna College and Springboar­d Foundation, which gave 49 students a chance to study high school and college for free.

Sykes has also embarked on disaster relief operations such as house building efforts for the Yolanda (internatio­nal name: Typhoon Haiyan) survivors in Daan Bantayan, Cebu.

“Growing Philippine communitie­s has always been an important mission for Sykes. As we grow our presence in the country, we make sure that we make a positive impact in the lives of Filipinos,” Van Ormer stressed.

Sykes senior vice president for regional operations (APAC) Mike Henderson and Van Ormer led the inaugurati­on of the site in a formal ceremony, attended by key company representa­tives.

The company currently employs more than 15,000 Filipinos.
