Kalinga communities in the National Capital Region, will serve as the culminating activity of the grassroots development program

The football clinics will be conducted by the country’s football stars among them Misagh Bahadoran, Ashley Flores, Chieffy Caligdong and Ref Cuaresma.

“What we are trying to do is build in the long term a wider base of players as a feeder to the Azkals. With more kids playing football, there will be a greater chance for the Philippines to develop as a football playing nation,” said Bahadoran.

FFABL ambassador and former United Football League player Graham Caygill will conduct the football clinic for children with the members of the Little Azkals.

Most of the participants were recruited through Gawad Kalinga’s SipaG football initiative.

“For the football clinic alone, we expect 300 kids from the different GK communities that will participate and more in the Gawad Kalinga Cup that will feature different age group competition,” said head organizer Albert Almendralejo of Spears Sports and Activation.

He added that they are happy that they have been recognized by the Philippine Sports Com- mission (PSC).

“The PSC has recognized the FFABL as a true grassroots sports program and has extended its support by allowing us to use its facilities at the Ultra Football Field,” Almendralejo said.

After its launch in July, the FFABL supported by British Insurance brand Pru Life UK has already taught football to 10,000 children.
