37 ARRESTED IN MUNTINLUPA, TAGUIG

POLICE arrested 37 persons allegedly linked to the illegal drug trade and impounded 75 motorcycle­s in “one time, big time” operations early Saturday in Muntinlupa and Taguig cities. In Muntinlupa, police scoured the villages of Tunasan, Poblacion, Putatan, Bayanan, Alabang, Buli, Cupang and Sucat and arrested Jetmore Baldonado, Teoderico Goma and Dexter Vidallo. Fifteen others surrendere­d. Also seized were several sachets of suspected shabu. Fifty-one motorcycle­s were impounded because the drivers either failed to present registrati­on documents or their driver’s licenses. In Taguig, police nabbed 34 drugs suspects and confiscate­d at least 24 motorcycle­s in operations in North and South Daang Hari villages.

SUSPECT KILLED IN QC BUY- BUST

QUEZON City police on Friday killed drug suspect Pablo Cabangon, 47, in a buy-bust at Barangay Bagong Silangan. A police officer posed as buyer and bought shabu worth P500 from him. After the drug deal, the suspect sensed the presence of policemen covertly positioned nearby, a report from the Quezon City Police District said. Cabangon pulled out his handgun and fired at the operatives, prompting police to retaliate, the report said. Cabangon was seriously wounded and rushed to the East Avenue Medical Center, where he was declared dead on arrival. Scene of the crime operatives recovered a caliber .45 Remington pistol without a serial number, loaded with a magazine with two pieces of ammunition, three small heat-sealed plastic sachets of suspected shabu, drug parapherna­lia and the P500 bill used as buy-bust money.

PDEA HIRING NEW AGENTS

THE Philippine Drug Enforcemen­t Agency (PDEA) is hiring drug enforcemen­t officers, an entry-level position. Recruits will undergo a six-month comprehens­ive and regimented training program at the PDEA Academy in Silang, Cavite, said agency chief Isidro Lapeña. Applicants must be 21 to 35 years old, at least 5’2” in height for men and 5’ in height for women, holder of a college degree, and either eligible for the civil service or a board examinatio­n passer.
